2026 Toyota Corolla Gains Some Upgraded Tech

2026 Toyota Corolla Hybrid

The 2026 Toyota Corolla receives some much-needed updates that should help it stay competitive in the compact sedan segment. Let’s start with all the carryover bits first. You’ll still have six trims to choose from, including three gas and three hybrid models. All-wheel drive remains available on the Corolla Hybrid, but only on the LE and SE variants. Gas models are front-drive only.

When it comes to powertrain, buyers can choose from two familiar options. The LE, SE, and XSE come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with Toyota’s Dynamic Shift CVT with a physical launch gear for smooth off-the-line acceleration. Meanwhile, the 2026 Corolla Hybrid uses the 5th-generation Toyota Hybrid System based on a 1.8-liter four-cylinder. Its output checks in at 138 net horsepower. Both the LE and SE grades can be equipped with the hybrid powertrain, while the XLE trim comes standard with it. On the other hand, the XSE grade is exclusively powered by the 2.0-liter engine.

As for what’s changed, the 2026 Corolla receives mostly convenience updates. The LE and SE trims now come standard with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. A larger 12.3-inch unit comes standard on XSE and XLE, and is available on the SE. Furthermore, every model now includes a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert as standard. On the infotainment front, the Corolla comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto housed on either a standard 8-inch or an optional 10.5-inch touchscreen. The XSE and XLE grades also offer a nine-speaker JBL premium audio system as an option.

2026 Toyota Corolla: Priced Affordably

In terms of pricing, the 2026 Corolla continues to serve as the entry point to Toyota’s car lineup. The base LE with the 2.0-liter engine starts at $23,920. Considering the additional standard features plus existing ones like the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, it’s not too bad. Move up to the XSE, and you’re looking at just under $30,000 before adding extras like that JBL audio system.

On the hybrid side, prices start at $25,770 for the base LE. The XLE trim checks in at just a smidge over $30,000 before adding any options. Adding AWD adds $1,700 to the base price on the LE, or $1,400 on the SE. Additionally, the Corolla Hybrid includes an 8-year or 100,000-mile hybrid system warranty and a 10-year or 150,000-mile hybrid battery warranty. Every Corolla also includes the ToyotaCare scheduled maintenance plan for 2 years or 25,000 miles.

In terms of fuel economy, Toyota says the hybrid models achieve up to 53/46/500 city/highway/combined, depending on the trim. On the other hand, gas models are good for up to 32/41/35 city/highway/combined.

Both variants of the 2026 Toyota Corolla arrive at dealerships in the fall.
