Lexus LFA Concept Takes Iconic Name All-Electric

Yup, the Lexus LFA has returned, this time as a concept car previewing the brand’s future halo performance model. The kicker? It’s a battery-electric vehicle. Yup, that’s right, the LFA is now an EV. Just like the Toyota GR GT revealed alongside it, this new LFA Concept follows the footsteps of the 2000GT and the last LFA. It follows the same design ethos, too. Low center of gravity, light weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance. Only this time, Lexus applies this philosophy to an EV.

The Lexus LFA Concept uses the same all-aluminum body frame as the GR GT. Meanwhile, its interior features the same driver-centric approach that focuses on achieving the ideal driving position and good visibility. The latter helps enhance the connection between car and driver, as well as vehicle handling. Most of the LFA Concept’s design borrows heavily from the GR GT and fuses it with elements from the last LFA. As a result, it has similar exterior proportions and a driver-centric interior. In the latter, there’s a clear focus on the driver thanks to its cockpit-like layout.

Lexus LFA Concept: Classic Sports Car Proportions

In terms of dimensions, the new LFA Concept is similar in size to the LC coupe. However, it’s around three inches shorter in length, six inches shorter in height, and nearly five inches wider. Lexus didn’t disclose any power figures for the LFA Concept, but we expect this to have similar or even more power than the GR GT. That model’s hybrid twin-turbo V8 already makes a whopping 650 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Imagine the possibilities with two high-output electric motors, a low-mounted traction battery, and a lightweight chassis developed specifically for high-performance sports car applications.

Considering how close this looks to production, expect the production version of the all-electric LFA to debut soon.
