Nissan has officially teased the 2027 Rogue. Instead of showing us a shadowy teaser, it confirmed one of the biggest changes for its popular compact SUV: a hybrid model. Yup, a Rogue Hybrid has been confirmed, and it introduces the e-Power hybrid system to North America for the first time.
Unlike systems from Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai, Nissan chose a series hybrid for the 2027 Rogue. That means the gas engine exclusively powers a generator to power the battery and electric motor. As a result, it drives more like a battery-electric vehicle. Nissan tuned the latest third-generation specifically for the North American market, allowing it to effectively meet our driving demands. In city and suburban driving, the engine runs infrequently due to low speeds and modest power demands. At highway speeds, it runs more often to maintain battery charge and supply sustained electrical power. The lithium-ion battery stores captured energy from regenerative braking and the engine. Because of this, the e-Power system does not have a conventional transmission.

When it arrives in the 2027 Rogue, the e-Power system will feature a dual-motor AWD setup. That means each axle has an individual electric motor. The system can precisely manage power and braking at each wheel, allowing it to adapt to driver inputs and changing road conditions. It can also adjust power side-to-side and front-to-rear for maximum grip. Additionally, during regenerative braking, both motors can reduce body pitch for stable deceleration and a more comfortable ride. Nissan’s e-Pedal system also returns on the 2027 Rogue, allowing for one-pedal driving in most situations.
The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid arrives with the new third-generation e-Power system in late 2026. It joins the Leaf in Nissan’s electrified lineup, which also includes the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid, a cousin to the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid.
