2026 Rivian R2 is Crazy Compelling!

Details for the 2026 Rivian R2 have officially arrived, and holy cow, it comes out of the gate swinging. The latest compact all-electric SUV offers plenty of value for the money and keeps its price in check. So, what do you get? Let’s take a look.

The first model out of the gate is the 2026 Rivian R2 Performance. This dual-motor AWD variant delivers 656 hp and 609 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Its EPA-estimate range? 330 miles with the standard all-season tires or 307 miles with the optional all-terrain tires. It also comes with semi-active suspension, 21-inch wheels, and yellow brake calipers. On top of that, it also includes heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wood accents, and a premium audio system. Rivian’s Autonomy+ and a Tow package are optional extras. The R2 Launch Edition receives these options standard, along with the ability to choose Launch Green as an exterior color and a Launch Edition key fob. Both the Performance and Launch Editions cost $59,485.

2026 Rivian R2: Premium and Standard Variants

Slotting below the R2 Performance and Launch Editions, the Premium trim features many of the same features. However, it lacks the yellow brake calipers and comes with 20-inch wheels instead. You can opt for 21-inch alloy wheels as a standalone option. Both the Premium and Performance trims have two interior color options. The Premium drops the output significantly to 450 hp and 537 lb-ft, but driving range remains at 330 miles according to the EPA. Meanwhile, the Premium costs less at $55,485.

At an EPA-rated 345 miles, the R2 Standard has the longest driving range of 345 miles. However, it has the least amount of standard equipment. Additionally, it comes only in a single-motor configuration with 350 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque. It and the Premium also miss out on a couple of extra drive modes that the Performance model has. Additionally, its towing capacity maxes out at 3,500 pounds instead of 4,400 pounds since it’s not offered with the Tow package. Pricing for the R2 Standard starts at $49,985. However, a lower-cost version with a smaller battery pack arrives in late 2027 with around 275 miles of driving range and a price tag of $45,000.

The Rivian R2 arrives in Spring 2026, starting with the Performance trim, followed by the Premium in late 2026. Standard models arrive in 2027.
