Everyone rejoice! Volkswagen has officially revealed the interior of the ID Polo, and it has buttons! That’s right, the latest EV from the German brand ditches the capacitive controls for physical ones! In this case, buttons and knobs! These complement the two displays on the dash. Behind the steering wheel, you find a 10.25-inch digital cluster that makes up the Digital Cockpit. It also includes a retro theme showing old school gauges from the first generation Golf! Meanwhile, in the front and center, you’ll find a larger touchscreen, which VW says is around 13 inches.
Both screens on the Volkswagen ID Polo feature high-resolution graphics and can be easily reached from the driver’s or front passenger’s position. On the other hand, the climate controls now have a row of toggles on the center stack along with the hazard button. Additionally, the new steering wheel features physical buttons, while the ID Light ambient lighting now extends to the doors.

Arriving mid-2026, the new ID Polo joins Volkswagen’s extensive global EV lineup that includes the ID4 and ID Buzz. This front-drive subcompact hatchback features either a 37-kWh or 52-kWh battery and a single electric motor with up to 211 hp on the standard model. Meanwhile, the ID Polo GTI has 226 hp. The smaller battery has a peak DC charging rate of 90 kW, while the larger one can take in 130 kW. In terms of driving range, Volkswagen expects the longest range variant to go 450 km or 279 miles on the WLTP cycle. Like the rest of VW’s EVs, the ID Polo uses the MEB platform.
Expect Europe to serve as the main market for the ID Polo. However, don’t expect it to come to North America, since this region is so averse to small cars and EVs.
