AFEELA Prototype 2026 Previews Second Model

Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) used the 2026 CES Show to showcase an upcoming second model. The SUV, dubbed the AFEELA Prototype 2026, follows the AFEELA 1 sedan. Both look similar thanks to the Prototype 2026’s swoopy roofline. Additionally, the front fascia and short rear decklid are nearly identical between the two, making the SUV look like a lifted version of the AFEELA 1.

The company didn’t provide any specifications regarding the AFEELA Prototype 2026. However, we suspect it may be identical to what’s in the AFEELA 1. That vehicle has a 91-kWh battery pack and two 180 kW electric motors for AWD. It also has a peak DC charging rate of 150 kW and a standard NACS charging port. The company says the AFEELA 1 has a driving range of 300 miles. However, expect a lower number for the taller, heavier SUV when it arrives in the U.S. market in 2028. SHM will also utilize the Snapdragon Digital Chassis on its vehicles to support its future electronic/electrical architectures beyond the AFEELA 1.

Reservations for the AFEELA 1 began last year, with SHM showrooms opening at various locations afterward. Delivery hubs will open in Torrance and Fremont, California, this year. Early reservation holders can test drive the AFEELA 1 later this year at AFEELA Studios and delivery hubs. Sales are expected to expand to Arizona in 2027. By the time the production version of the AFEELA Prototype 2026 arrives, SHM will most likely be in full operation. Production of the AFEELA 1 should be in full force at Honda’s East Liberty, Ohio, manufacturing plant.

SHM announced that its advanced driver assistance tech will evolve using AI-based and vision-language models. Starting with level 2+ capability, it intends to achieve level 4-equivalent systems in the future for its lineup.
