2027 Volvo EX60

It’s official. Google Gemini has found its way into a car. The 2027 Volvo EX60 marks the first automotive application for Google’s AI assistant. As a result, Volvo says you can have a natural conversation with your car. Gemini gives drivers hands-free control of nearly every aspect of the EX60, minimizing the need to look at the center display. That includes having a full-on chat with your car via natural speech. Most importantly, the car doesn’t require specific commands.

So, what can Google Gemini do for you? According to Volvo, it can do a lot in the 2027 EX60. These include everything from finding a hotel booking address in your email to brainstorming road trip ideas. You can also ask it if a specific item fits in the EX60’s trunk.

2027 Volvo EX60: Connected and Always Evolving

The EX60 debuts with Volvo’s latest HuginCore system. It encompasses the in-house electrical architecture, core computer, zone controllers, and software in the vehicle, making it truly software-defined. It also enables continuous improvements via over-the-air updates. HuginCore also elevates safety as it reads the vehicle’s surroundings through a range of sensors. As a result, the EX60 can anticipate danger and avoid potential risks sooner, making every drive safer. It also allows the car to learn as you drive, improving its driver assistance systems over time.

Additionally, the EX60 features Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, providing it with the highest level of processing power found in a Volvo to date. On top of that, it also includes the Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform, giving EX60 drivers continuous and super-responsive connectivity during their four years of complimentary data.

Volvo also equipped the EX60 with the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin system-on-a-chip. That’s the same computing platform that the EX90 recently got with its switch to an 800-volt electrical architecture. This allows for the most responsive user experience thanks to the system’s immense processing power for a smoother user experience.

Continuous improvement remains a key aspect of Volvo vehicles. As a result, over-the-air updates continue improving the EX60 through time. Volvo Cars’ Superset tech stack allows for this. Gemini also keeps improving over time as Volvo continues to integrate it deeper with the car’s systems. Eventually, Volvo says Gemini will be able to use the vehicle’s cameras and answer questions about the world around you.

More To Deets Shown (Literally)

Volvo didn’t just disclose more of the software for this latest teaser. It also revealed some cool design details. On the outside, we get a better glimpse of the headlights and taillights, which clearly take cues from the EX90 and EX30. The headlights look narrower, too, while its curves in the rear look cleaner and more angular. However, zoom into the overhead sho and it appears that Volvo ditched the flush door handles for a similar setup found on the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Inside, we finally get confirmation that EX60 will offer the epic Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, thanks to a speaker shot. Finally, the glimpse of the center console shows a massive touchscreen and a crystal volume scroller beneath it. We’re looking forward to seeing more of the EX60 once it makes its official debut.
