2026 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Goes Farther in EV Mode

Fresh off its first year, the Mazda CX-70 sees major changes for 2026, mainly with its plug-in hybrid variant. In addition to blackout exterior badges, the 2026 Mazda CX-70 sees some lineup changes with the PHEV receiving new trim names: SC and SC Plus. That’s on top of a massive price drop from last year, making the one with the plug even more accessible.

The 2026 Mazda CX-70 PHEV now starts at $45,780 for the SC trim. That’s a whopping $10,150 less than last year’s equivalent Premium model. Meanwhile, the SC Plus costs $48,780, or $10,200 less than last year’s range-topper: the Premium Plus. They’re both pretty well-equipped, too. The SC trim has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the i-ActivSense driver assistance suite. Moving up to the SC Plus adds heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and a head-up display. However, it lacks the extra driver assistance tech found on the Turbo S Premium Plus and the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

2026 Mazda CX-70: Stronger Value

On the powertrain front, the 2026 CX-70 PHEV can now travel 30 miles in EV mode. In terms of output, the e-Sykactiv PHEV system is rated at 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. This combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. On the other hand, gas models use a 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six engine. In the Turbo models, it produces 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Output increases to 340 hp and 369 lb-ft in the Turbo S variants. An eight-speed automatic remains the only transmission available in the CX-70.

Other updates for 2026 include more standard features on the Preferred trim, including ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. That’ll run you $43,780. Not bad considering how well-equipped the base CX-70 is. What about the range-topping Premium Plus trim? That’ll cost you $51,100 for the Turbo model or a cool $58,200 on the Turbo S model. Keep in mind that it does include features not found on the PHEV or the Turbo Premium Plus model. Additionally, premium exterior colors like Soul Red Crystal, Melting Copper, and Zircon Sand cost an extra $595.
