Volvo EVs Gain Welcome Updates for 2026

Volvo EVs see a host of updates for 2026. Hot on the heels of a new 800-volt electrical architecture and more processing power, the 2026 EX90 receives a power increase. The Twin Motor Performance model now has 670 hp, making it the most powerful Volvo model to date. On the other end of the spectrum, the single-motor model joins the EX90 lineup. Expect this model to feature the most driving range when combined with the right alloy wheel size.

In terms of other updates, the EX90, just like its Polestar 3 cousin, receives additional capabilities thanks to its new core computer. It now has expanded automatic emergency steering capability in the dark and includes Emergency Stop Assist with automatic e-call. The latter of which brings the car to a controlled full stop and contacts emergency services if the driver is unresponsive. Additionally, the EX90 now has available Nappa leather upholstery paired with ventilated front seats.

Stepping down from the EX90 and into the smaller Volvo EVs, we find more crucial updates. These include the addition of the single-motor EX30 and the Cross Country model. As we reported earlier, the EX30 RWD only comes in the Plus trim. Meanwhile, the EX30 Cross Country is available exclusively on the range-topping Ultra. In addition to a raised suspension, it also offers 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.

Finally, the EX40 receives a new Black Edition. Available in either Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, or Denim Blue, this special model adds the blackout treatment. Based on the Ultra trim, the EX40 Black Edition comes loaded and has unique details like an Orrefors crystal shifter. It also comes exclusively in a dual-motor AWD configuration with 402 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque. According to the EPA, it’s good for 260 miles per charge.
