Infiniti QX65 Monograph Channels Iconic FX SUV

Infiniti used Monterey Car Week to debut a thinly veiled concept of the upcoming QX65 SUV. Essentially a sibling to the three-row QX60, the Infiniti QX65 Monograph sports a fastback roofline reminiscent of today’s coupe-like SUVs. The design isn’t just for style, though. It’s a nod to one of Infiniti’s most iconic vehicles: the FX.

Infiniti QX65 Monograph: Inspired by Japan

As with current Infiniti models, the QX65 takes inspiration from Japanese culture. For instance, the grille resembles Japanese bamboo forests. Additionally, designers gave it a unique design that matches this sportier profile. Meanwhile, the piano key-style full-width LED daytime running lights add a dynamic look up front. In the rear, the same light pattern gives the SUV its wide stance. On the other hand, 22-inch alloy wheels add to the SUV’s modern yet distinctly Japanese feel.

The QX65 Monograph’s exterior also stands out thanks to its shifting colors. Dubbed Twilight, this color-changing satin paint evolves from the Akane hue that first debuted on the QX80 Monograph. This one mimics gold and red shades, imitating the moment twilight turns into night. Initially, this color looks like a mix of red and purple. However, those colors give way to gold, giving it a touch of rose gold vibes. Finally, a gloss black contrasting roof gives a sporty feel, especially combined with the bronze exterior accents.

IA Preview of the Production Model

Any Infiniti concept or prototype vehicle bearing the name Monograph typically previews a near-production vehicle. That’s exactly the case with the QX65 Monograph. It’s a glimpse into the next model joining the Infiniti lineup: a coupe-like SUV pays homage to one of its most popular models. However, considering it’s based on the QX60, don’t expect the driving experience to match the FX, though, which is closely related to the iconic G35 and G37. Expect the production QX65 to use the same 2.0-liter VC-Turbo 4-cylinder paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. In the QX60, this engine makes 268 hp and 286 lb-ft of torque
