Acura RSX Prototype Previews Production Model

The Acura RSX Prototype made its world debut at this year’s Monterey Car Week, previewing the production model. This marks the second iconic Acura nameplate to return, following the Integra. However, unlike the Integra, the RSX has transformed into a compact all-electric SUV.

Finished in Propulsion Yellow Pearl, the Acura RSX Prototype goes all in on the coupe-like shape, complete with a sporty, low-slung roofline complemented by massive 21-inch wheels. The SUV also includes a new front light signature reminiscent of the diamond pentagon design language in existing Acura models. Up front split headlights give the RSX an aggressive presence, while its rear LED light bar pays tribute to the second-generation NSX supercar.

When it arrives in the second half of 2026, the RSX joins the ZDX as the second EV in the Acura lineup. Unlike the ZDX, Acura engineered the RSX in-house as part of the brand’s broader efforts to electrify its products. It also rides on a dedicated EV platform and features ASIMO OS, the company’s exclusive global operating system. Honda designed the interface to learn the vehicle owner’s preferences and driving behavior to personalize the overall experience. ASIMO OS also includes over-the-air update capability to add new customization options and services.

Acura RSX Prototype: Promising Performance

When it enters production in 2026, the RSX will be the first EV produced at Honda’s EV hub. This flexible facility in Marysville, Ohio, can accommodate a wide range of vehicles, from gas to hybrid and all-electric models, all on one line. Currently, Honda builds the Integra compact sedan in this facility.

Acura also hinted at the performance credentials of the production RSX. A sport-tuned suspension with control arms in front, dual-motor AWD, and Brembo brakes all come standard. The brand noted that the RSX promises to deliver an engaging drive, all while advancing its driver assistance technologies. Additionally, the RSX also features vehicle-to-load capability, allowing it to power devices and even send energy back to the grid.
